The recently updated DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) website now publishes a second hand car MOT check so that you can view the full MOT history, detailing Fails and full reasons why.
This is a great tool for second hand car buyers..
Simply type in the vehicle registration number at https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ and see a full breakdown of the MOT history.
The search will return the vehicles:
- Mileage
- Garage that the MOT took place
- MOT test number
- PASS OR FAIL RESULT
- Expiry date
- In the case of a PASS, it will also detail ‘monitor and repair advisories’ giving you an understanding of areas you may need to resolve in future
- In the case of a FAIL, it will also detail the ‘repair immediately (major defects) list .
