Great news as Daniel Passes Electric Car Courses.
Ewood MOT & Service Centre Technician Daniel has recently completed 3 intensive courses in Hazard Management for Electric and Hybrid Vehicles.
Daniel is a skilled technician working on a wide range of makes and models of traditional combustion engine vehicles of at our Service Centre in Blackburn, Lancashire.
With the rapid increase and popularity of electric and hybrid cars, we are investing in training of our technicians to become more skilled and knowledgeable with the new systems and complexity that come with Electric and Hybrid Cars.
So far Daniel has completed 3 courses over five days through Group Auto EV and Blackburn College understanding the key differences when working with Electric and Hybrid Vehicles compared to traditional cars.
The course covered a range of topics, including the different types of electric and hybrid vehicles, the potential hazards associated with working on them, and how to safely handle high-voltage batteries and electrical systems. It is also vitally important to correctly and safely power down a hybrid/electric vehicle and make the vehicle safe to work on for any servicing or repairs, for example: high voltage cables. It is also vitally important to quarantine the vehicle away from other technicians.
On successful completion of the course, Daniel commented “The Electric Vehicle courses were all really interesting and informative. In the industry, we are seeing a rise in drivers choosing to go down the electric, or at least hybrid, vehicle route. With these cars come key differences for both the drivers and vehicle technicians and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to learn more about the differences and improve my knowledge. I now have obtained a full understanding of the roles and the regulations for the use of the Personal Protective Equipment required”.
“Throughout the course, I learnt a lot about the hazards and risks associated with electric and hybrid vehicles, as well as how to safely manage them. I was particularly impressed by the hands-on training we received from the tutor”.
